1. If the canvas suddenly gets wrinkled, what should you do?

First option: iron with steam on the back of the diagram, always with a cloth. Iron temperature no more than 120. C or on the silk program.

Second option: roll up the rhinestone picture with the adhesive base facing out and let it sit for 2-3 weeks.

2. Care of tweezers.

To make the tweezers last longer, after finishing laying out the diamond picture, do not forget to put on an elastic band.

3. If paper is stuck to the adhesive base of your picture. Don't worry, this can be fixed quickly. You need to take a brush and gently wet this area with water, and then remove the stuck paper with tweezers. Dry the glue with a hairdryer, and you can continue your work again.

4. While working, cover the adhesive frame of the diamond mosaic with pieces of paper from the adhesive tape, letters facing up. This will help prevent fine dust from sticking. And after completing the work, you can line this frame with the remaining rhinestones.

5. The bags with rhinestones are marked with color numbers; for ease of laying out, you can apply the designations from the diagram.

6. Instead of the molds from the set, you can use trays with lids (very convenient), a paint palette or empty boxes of watercolor paints.

7. How can I post diamond paintings?

Method 1: can be laid out in rows along the entire length of the painting (tiring and the pattern may shift)

Method 2: can be laid out in strips. Practice shows that peeling off pieces of 5*10 cm or 10*10 cm (the width of the adhesive strip is about 5 cm) is most convenient.

Method 3: you can assemble by color or in a checkerboard pattern (the main thing is that the rhinestone clicks). With such methods, the pattern does not shift, and the rhinestones themselves align.

There are no uniform rules for laying out rhinestones. Post it at your convenience.

It is important not to peel off the entire protective layer!!!

8. If you decide to roll up the assembled or unfinished diamond embroidery, then roll the rhinestones outward.

9. The finished picture made of rhinestones can be ironed with steam so that the rhinestones stick better. You can iron both from the back and from the front side of the painting. We iron only through a cloth, not with a hot iron. Before ironing, try it on a corner of the mosaic.

10. Place something heavy on the laid out part of the diamond embroidery so that the diamonds stick better. Use your imagination and you will succeed!!!

11. The finished diamond embroidery can be coated on top with acrylic varnish or automotive aerosol varnish. This is necessary for better fixation of the rhinestones.

12. During the laying process, sometimes you have to align the rows of rhinestones. This can be done with a ruler or a plastic card.

13. If the adhesive layer is broken, you can use glue or double-sided tape.

14. Sometimes it happens that there are not enough rhinestones of some color, don’t panic! Try to choose from the colors that are in the set.

15. The finished work should be rolled with a rolling pin or a bottle of water.

DIAMOND MOSAIC

Tired of “regular” knitting or “simple” drawing? Try to embroider your own masterpiece - not an ordinary one, but a “diamond” one that can replace a real painting.

But in order for diamond painting to be enjoyable and look professional, it’s worth remembering a few simple secrets that turn laying out faceted stones into a real meditation session.

Which diamond embroidery is better: Chinese or Russian?

Entire verbal battles are unfolding on this topic on the Internet. Some craftsmen are convinced that in the countries of the Rising Sun they make the most affordable and varied types of rhinestone sets, while others patriotically object to them that we also know how to make high-quality and inexpensive “diamond” sets. And each of the disputants turns out to be right: indeed, in Russia, Korea, and China there are manufacturers producing high-quality sets at an attractive price.

All sets differ in a number of properties: the base on which the pattern for laying out the rhinestones is applied, the complete layout of the entire picture or just its main theme with the background already applied, and the type of rhinestone stones in terms of their shape and transparency.

Collective “crusade”: choosing stories for the whole family

There is no significant fundamental difference between a canvas on a stretcher and without it, if you frame the finished painting in a baguette frame, which is worth doing to preserve the canvas. Round rhinestones express the smooth shapes of the picture, while square rhinestones create the integrity of the image well, fitting tightly to each other - which one is better is purely a matter of taste.

Canvas loves gentle treatment

If the base fabric included in the set with diamond embroidery is already stretched onto a stretcher, this is very convenient: it means that when you finish laying out, you will receive a finished piece of art that can be immediately hung on the wall, simply by choosing a suitable decorative frame. But at the same time, it is important to remember that the stretched canvas can accidentally deform: stretch, slightly “bend” down, or even tear - naturally, only if you press too hard on each rhinestone or forcefully poke the fabric with tweezers . And if you received a canvas rolled into a roll, you need to first prepare it for work: iron it from the wrong side with a slightly warm iron. Worried about burning or accidentally melting the fabric? There is a safer, but longer option for smoothing: just place the base under the weight of several thick books and wait a few hours.

Subtleties of working with protective film

Transparent protective film is the most important thing in diamond mosaic, because it is what protects the adhesive layer applied to the canvas from dirt and dust. Therefore, it absolutely cannot be removed from the entire picture in advance! Separate the fragments of the protective coating step by step as you lay out - row by row! - then you won’t have to glue rhinestones onto a dry surface using a glue gun.

If contamination of the sticky layer of the canvas does occur, first remove the lint and small debris with tweezers, and then carefully and pointwise wipe the contaminated areas with a cotton swab dipped in water, and glue the pebbles, applying glue not to the fabric, but to each rhinestone individually - this will be much more be careful!

Taking the right rhinestone is an art

As a rule, a faceted “diamond” is very easy to take, because... its edges are very convenient for gripping with tweezers. But round and smooth rhinestones are a little more difficult to grasp correctly: you need to get the hang of taking them by the sides with tweezers, without scratching the smooth surface, thanks to which the picture looks truly precious. And if you are going to create diamond painting for the first time, it is better to stock up not only with tweezers, but also with a glue stick - its sticky tip is very convenient as a lifesaver and you can easily bring the stone to the glue base without dropping it on the table or floor.

The glue stick easily picks up any rhinestone.

Tweezers are a classic grasping tool.

Choosing a tray for diamond mosaic

As a rule, the set already includes a box-case for rhinestones, but it is not always convenient for beginners to work with: the compartments are small, but deep, so turning over stones in a small space is not so easy when you are unaccustomed to it. But it can be perfectly replaced by a regular paint palette, because its recesses are ideal for pouring cabochons and faceted stones into them and sorting them by color.

But if there are a lot of rhinestones, then it is better to use an organizer, and then pour it onto a saucer or other convenient container.

How to align rows of rhinestones?

The adhesive base applied to the fabric holds the rhinestones well, but at the same time it is quite plastic, and therefore the rhinestones can “ride” a little on the surface, and the rows at first may not turn out very even. To make them as straight as possible, use a ruler like a construction trowel: move the slightly “runaway” stones to the desired place with its smooth side.

What to do if you run out of pebbles of the desired color?

In general, this is an unlikely event, because... All manufacturers supply rhinestones with a reserve. If this does happen, there are two options:

  1. use rhinestones from the same set, which are as close in color as possible to the ones you need;
  2. if the picture is with square rhinestones, then you can look for colors matching the number in the catalog and buy the ones you need (suitable for most manufacturers with square rhinestones, search by number).

What are leftover rhinestones good for?

If you have the opposite situation (there are too many extra rhinestones left), find a useful use for them: for example, decorate a picture frame with sparkles. At the same time, place them not over the entire surface of the frame, but only in the corners, avoiding redundancy. This moderation is necessary so that the viewer’s gaze concentrates on the image itself, and not on individual decorative elements.

Varnish: less is more

Varnishing the finished diamond painting is needed not only for a festive and finished look, but also for better fixation of the rhinestones on the canvas. If you have already varnished a painting by numbers, then you know that artistic acrylic comes in three types: matte, glossy and craquelure. Of these, gloss is the one that will suit you, because... it will further highlight the brilliance of each round cabochon or faceted square. But varnishing a pictorial mosaic also has its own secret, which is different from covering the design: you need to put very, very little artistic varnish onto your brush! Otherwise, it will flow between the rhinestones, forming small but extremely unaesthetic bubbles.

Do you need protective glass?

If the work is varnished, no additional protection is needed - otherwise a double layer (acrylic plus glass) will negate the main “trick” of any diamond painting - its noble gloss. In this case, it is better to replace the glass with an elegant frame: thin and without unnecessary decorative elements, so as not to distract attention from the brilliance of the picture. But if you choose a more matte mosaic (not rhinestones, but faceted squares), then glass will just add the much-needed shine to a still life or landscape, so that even modest stones will sparkle with a festive diamond sparkle for the joy of you and your family!

Diamond mosaic is the process of creating a three-dimensional picture from multi-colored rhinestones on a thick canvas. Acrylic rhinestones are laid out according to a given pattern on a pre-glued base. The pattern of the design is applied to the base and each color is marked with a specific symbol, letter or number.

The finished picture is voluminous due to the pyramidal shape of the rhinestones with shiny edges. Shimmering in the light, the edges of the rhinestones give the picture a shine, while preserving the pattern of the diamond layout, thanks to the rich colors of the rhinestones themselves.

Diamond embroidery (or mosaic, mosaic - whatever you like) - the process is quite fascinating and not at all complicated. Of course, laying out a picture with rhinestones requires perseverance and attentiveness, but needlewomen usually have enough of this.

Such paintings with rhinestones are called embroidery rather because of the similarity of the finished works with embroidered paintings, but at its core it is still a mosaic, because we do not sew on rhinestones, but lay them out on an adhesive base in a certain order.

In principle, posting such a picture will not be difficult, the main thing is patience to finish what you started!

Types of diamond mosaic.

Diamond mosaic can be different - with full and incomplete laying, using round or square rhinestones. Full layout is filling the entire surface of the canvas with a design with rhinestones, incomplete layout - rhinestones are glued only on certain elements, the rest of the pattern has already been applied, it will be the basis of the picture.

Round rhinestones are transparent and shiny, which give a greater shining 3D effect; they, like square ones, are made of opaque acrylic, but also shimmer perfectly in the light. Square rhinestones fill all the free space very well.

Whatever type of diamond painting you choose, in any case you will be satisfied with the result of the work!

So, let's get ready to create a masterpiece with our own hands in the form of a shining painting!

What is included in the diamond mosaic set?

The kit for making paintings with rhinestones includes:

- adhesive base with a printed pattern;
- a set of rhinestones, arranged in bags with the indicated numbers;
- a special pencil for work (you can also use a soft white pencil);
- tray for rhinestones;
- tweezers (not all manufacturers have them, but their semantic load is small);
- a square with dry glue (useful for making the rhinestones easier to grip with a pencil, also not available in all sets and also not really needed).

The canvas with the pattern applied to it is covered with a special adhesive base, to which our rhinestones will be attached. To prevent the adhesive layer from becoming dusty during work, the canvas is also covered with a thin transparent film. We will move this film aside or cut it off as we work.

The drawing of the future painting is schematically indicated by numbers corresponding to each color of rhinestone.

Laying out diamond mosaic.

You can lay out diamond embroidery in rows, or in fragments, whichever is more convenient for you. Practice shows that it is better to use fragments, opening or cutting off the film over a small part of the design, using each color of rhinestone in turn.

We will lay out the picture with rhinestones "Bouquet of Roses" - incomplete display, round rhinestones. The drawing promises us this picture, let's see what we get as a result:

Painting with rhinestones "Bouquet of roses"

Let's get started:

1. Pour rhinestones of one type into the tray, you don’t need a lot, for one fragment it is enough to pour the rhinestones in one layer on the bottom of the tray - this makes it easier to take them with a pencil with a metal tip. If necessary, you can first dip the tip of the pencil into the glue square, but this is not necessary.

2.) Take the rhinestones one at a time and glue them in a loose order, but to the places indicated by the numbers in the diagram. You need to press down firmly, but preferably once, without moving the rhinestone from its place, then it will be difficult to return it back. But, if it has already moved, then with the help of tweezers we carefully return it to its proper place.

To ensure that the rhinestones do not peel off from the finished painting over time, after completion of the work they can be pressed tightly with a rolling pin.

3.) We continue this way until we fill out a small fragment. We try not to touch the adhesive base with our hands, this will make it dirty and less sticky.

4.) Pour the remaining rhinestones into their bag, do not worry that there may not be enough rhinestones. Usually they are given with a small margin, so it is better to discard uneven rhinestones immediately.

If you don’t have enough rhinestones of the desired color (which happens extremely rarely), you can find suitable rhinestones in handicraft stores. Pour the next type of rhinestone into the tray and continue our exciting activity!

The finished piece of work looks like this:

After three or four evenings of diligent planning, I got this picture:

But the photo, unfortunately, cannot convey all the shimmer of rhinestones, which can only be appreciated with the naked eye!

Design of diamond mosaic.

To prevent the painting from losing its shine over time, it is better to frame it under glass, although this will slightly reduce the 3D effect.
The ideal option is anti-reflective glass, but such a pleasure will cost more.

The technique of laying out pictures with rhinestones has a very interesting feature - it allows you to relax and helps fight fatigue and stress! And, of course, as a result you get a beautiful shining picture!
